If the sentence is life in prison without the possibility of parole, would a swift execution be more ethical? That way, taxpayers don't have to financially support them into old age.

In CA the cost per inmate is over $80k per year. https://lao.ca.gov/PolicyAreas/CJ/6_cj_inmatecost
