I think Meghan is a control freak. Even her family warned Harry she was. And Harry is the perfect person to control, he's always had mommy issues. What better control prize than a whole royal family, except the Queen never forgave Wallis Simpson for similarly upsetting the routine and she knew to cut the ties.
