A friend for 40+ years posted this on Facebook "I have always thought I was the beneficiary of an excellent education because my parents sent me to private Catholic schools. I thought we were taught well in the areas of research, critical thinking and logic. I am disheartened by the sheer number of people who shared my educational background who boarded and rode the Trump train, who bought into the lies around the election, who hold Rush Limbaugh up as a role model, who attempt to justify the insurrection and who spread conspiracy theories such as those espoused by QAnon. I now wonder if the schools that I’ve always considered to be of a higher standard were either just average or just elitist?" I want to respond, not to start a fight or WW3 but everything that I start to writer gets my blood boiling. Yes, I know I could ignore it, delete her or snooze her BUT Q tells us we need to help educate and I am at a loss. So, I thought I would reach out to my fellow frens and get some help and ideas. Anyone?

I would start with asking them if they are open to a genuine unheated debate about relatively petty matters to see where you stand vs them. If they are I'd start with something along the lines of "did Trump mock a handicapped reporter?" I'll leave research to you but the evidence shows that Trump would mock ALL people stumbling on their words with the same hand motion...did it when talking about Ted Cruz and others before the "journalist/reporter" with the arm affliction.
then I'd ask what he learned about crowd attendance at Trump's inaguration...he learned it was like this right ?

well tell him to look at this beauty posted by none other than CNN, and ask him to tell you if it was crowded! then ask him for what purpose would CNN and others lie about this...for what gain?

ask him what he has "learned" about hydroxychloroquine and then ask him if he trusts the New England Journal of Medicine and Facebook which have both turned a corner on this drug. you'll have to do research if you choose this.
in any case use easy to prove matters that use their own "trusted sources" to dispel the garbage they were programmed to believe and make them realize they need to do their own research and never trust any particular news source because any and all can have ulterior motives. make sure whatever example you choose that you have THE GOODS to back it up irrefutably using their trusted sources.
once you get them to think wrt the simple stuff you can hopefully advance to the more seriously matters, but one step at a time. plant that seed of doubt is first step
good luck
