I have done many deep dives into this topic over the last 20 years. There has definitely been an increase in the number of major cases coming to light. Unfortunately, they are mostly cases against those abusing girls. Very few cases involve abusers of boys and when there are cases, gender neutral language is almost always used. This is despite the fact that for every abused girl, there are 200 boys. Boys are very unlikely to speak out.
Is it just me or does it seem like there have been more of these arrests in the last few months? Or maybe we're just paying more attention to it.
It's difficult to say how many of these types of arrests normally occur in a typical month.
