What exactly is adrenochrome, and what sources do pedophilies and satanists get it from?

From what I understand, adrenochrome is some kind of a chemical substance that is similar to adrenaline, and the body pumps it in the blood of the children when they are scared, tortured, and harmed, when they kill the child, they drink their blood and inside their blood is adrenochrome, which supposedly makes pedophiles and satanists look and feel younger.

Haven't watched much of modern cinema at all, but the adenochrome stuff reminds me of Dark Crystal. Of course, stealing life essence is a common enough trope.
