Weekly Discussion Thread - February 22nd - 28th
?️ DISCUSSION ?
We're going to try a weekly discussion thread to see how it goes. The expectation is that it will be posted on mondays so we don't split up weekend discussions.
Feel free to posts thoughts and suggestions.
You can search Rapture in the Bible. There are at least 23 verses that mention it. Below are some verses you can look up and I have written a quick caption, but please read the entire verse. The Rapture - is the raising of the Church into heaven. Thessalonians 4:17 - is the next event on the prophetic calendar... Christ returns and takes every Christian that is still on earth... the dead in Christ will rise... Thessalonians 5:1-8 will come like a thief in the night, no one knows the date or the time... but there are signs we can be aware of, events such as earthquakes and diseases, war and dispute among nations, and persecution against Christians are all signs leading to the Rapture. 2 Cor 5:10 about judgment, John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am. Luke 10:20 However do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Mark 13:32, But about that , the day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Rev 3:10, Matt 24:30-31 There will appear a sign of the Son of Man in heaven... the trumpet, people mourning, sending his angels... Phil 3:20-21, Romans 8:18-19 our sufferings will not compare with the glory to be revealed... acts 1:7-8 It is not for you to know the times or the dates the Father has set...Dan 12:1-2, 1 Cor 15:51-53, 1 Thess 4:16-18, Luke 17:34-37, Mark 13:24-27, Rev 20:2-5, Rev 11:15-19 Hope this helps!
Thank you, give me more to share with him than I was already armed with
While I am in full agreement with all of the scripture about Christ taking us to be with him in Heaven in an instant, the question I now have following the study with my kids is regarding whether or nor it will be prior to the great tribulation though I am strongly leaning towards a yes on that however, is that part even relevant?
Yes it is relevant. The antichrist will stand in the new temple claiming to be Jesus Christ. Then there will be 3 1/2 years left until the second coming of Christ and the armies of the nations of the world will be defeated at the Battle of Armageddon. This period of time is called the great tribulation by Christ (Matt 24:21) The second coming of Jesus Christ occurs in verses 29-30. During this last 3 1/2 years all of the events in Rev 6 to 19 will occur. Jer 30:7 calls it Jacob's Trouble because this is the climax of the punishment to Israel for their rejection of Jesus Christ. The end of the tribulation period is also the end of the times of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24, Romans 11:25-26). The rapture occurs unexpectedly prior to the tribulation period. That is the message in 1 Thess 4:16, Jesus will descend from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise. Then those christians who are alive and in Christ will rise next and both will go up together. Paul continues in Thess that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. That is the Day of the Lord and will follow rapture.
Watch for the peace treaty. After the treaty is signed, the world will hear about it on the news. Some good resources are Irwin Baxter's Endtime Ministries site. www.endtime.com Sadly, he recently passed due to Covid but his preaching continues. He was a really good holy man and he preached at my church many times through the years. Be blessed!
So what out of that can I use (because I do believe all of it) to convince my Son in law who says that the word rapture is not specifically used in the Bible and he knows all of the scriptures concerning it?
Yes, I believe your son is correct, I don't think the word 'rapture' is in the bible. Rapture is the translated form of 'the taking away', 'taking up', etc. I would need to look up all instances. I haven't studied endtimes in a long time. I think it is really cool that you are sharing this with your family!!
I used to study Pastor Irwin Baxter's endtimes studies. He was a Godly man of faith and so knowledgeable. Some friends and I did home bible studies and a few times our topic was the endtimes series. Was so interesting and here we are today living in the endtimes. Jesus is coming, sooner than we realize.
