Mining stocks are a better "silver" alternative... If cost goes up, mining becomes a lot more profitable as does the company's value. Find one you like and invest in silver that way.
If you have money tied up in retirement accounts, you can purchase silver IRA through a rollover (Not all allow unless you changed job) or buying PSLV is the only ETF I know of that purchases physical silver for each share created, so transferring from SLV (if your in that) to PSLV causes the physical silver to actually be purchased, where your slv probably never had it to begin with. You cant short PSLV.
That's why you go physical. $SLV buyers end up as bagholders.
