I think I found the photographer. Brendan Smialowski. He has a few photos on this Instagram page from that day. He loves black and white, apparently. https://www.instagram.com/bsmialowski/?hl=en

I’ve seen that he works for Agence France-Presse or was freelance. No indication he worked for George News that I could find so far.
