Ha. I grew up mostly in Pasadena. But at 30, I decided I needed to experience life outside the plastic bubble and I never looked back. Been here 20 yrs now so I get to call myself a Texan. Close enough to Austin to enjoy the live music scene, but far enough out that Im in a rural red zone.
Gonna have to make a trip to Cali sometime soon though. My step dad just passed. Extra sad because he was planning to sell his house and come live with me here. He hated CA.
Oh damn so sorry to hear that fren!! Prayers. Hope you are dealing ok.
It is beautiful....im up north but im def homesick. Only been 1.5 years & society basically shut/locked down not long after arriving w/2 young kids. Im from DFW but lived near austin also for college. I miss both. You picked a good area. And yes.....Thats def long enough to be considered a texan!!
Thanks. Its all good. My Mom died last April and lots of friends also lost parents recently. I honestly think they were just not capable of dealing with the Great Awakening that is underway, so they simply let go.
Coincidentally (no coincidences!?), two long lost cousins contacted me just days before my stepdad passed. One is in Monterey, so when I go to Cali to deal with the estate I will end the trip with a drive up north. The other cousin lives in Hawaii and is currently diy building a house. Really looking fwd to visiting him once its done!
So one door closes and another opens. Everything really is working out. It always does.
