Getting drunk is what we are told to not do in Christianity, Christ turned the water into wine, He talked about not putting new wine into old wineskins, we use red wine mixed with water before it is sanctified for the Holy Blood and most Christians broke fast by drinking alcohol! It isn't alcohol that is forbidden it is losing control of your senses, having the mind become numb this can be with anything, drugs, drinking ect.

Also for the etymology of the word alcohol "from Arabic al-kuhul "kohl," the fine metallic powder used to darken the eyelids, from kahala "to stain, paint." The al- is the Arabic definite article, "the."

And then ghoul: from Arabic ghul, an evil spirit that robs graves and feeds on corpses, from ghala "he seized."
