it's just the cycle they go through. dems or republicans, doesn't matter -- when you get in the minority, you propose all this these things you know won't pass, so that you look like you're taking a brave stand for your side's core values. then people vote you into the majoriy where you can then begin sitting on your ass and doling out other excuses for why you didn't circle back to all that stuff you fought for, meanwhile the opposing party which is now in the minority starts putting up all THEIR heroic convictions bills that they know won't pass, so that they can then have their turn as the stagnant majority, and on and on and on
