Just got my first Sig Sauer P226! So fuck’n excited!!! Joined a gun club with my husband. Waiting to take my first gun safety class so we can start shooting. NO FCKN AMMO ANYWHERE!!! This is so not fair but I understand. I know a lot of gun owners reload their shells. How hard/expensive is that to do? Cause I’m willing to try just so I can shoot! But we do check every day for ammo but my husband does not want to pay $50 for a box but I will!!!
Finding reloading components is very difficult right now.
Crap!
Yeah sadly much is on back order with no ETA for arrival.
updoot for the SIG
i have a few packs of toilet paper to swap for a box of bullets if anyone is interested!!! lol... lets hope it doesn't come to that! be prepared.....
Oh yeah! My hubby filled our guest bedroom with TO but I can’t shoot that!!!
You can if you yell "It's coming right for me" first.
So the shortage is due entirely to all the new gun owners. Disappointed he didn’t about the supply chain - like if they can get everything they need to fulfill orders
The big hangup is primer production. Look into how these are made. To fill and cap them, they are assembled in small rooms just big enough for one person. These rooms are usually built on the side of the facility with a weak wall facing out so if it blows it doesn't harm anyone else. They seem like large coffins. The facility is usually out in the boonies as zoning in cities usually doesn't allow for high explosive use. Also apparently this is a job mostly filled with women as they tend to have more dexterity and concentration. So to increase production you need women living outside cities that are willing to work in dangerous and depressing conditions. Hard sell for most I'm sure. Looked into it a few years back as it seemed a business that will never run out of customers. It's not surprising you don't see new people in the market, only old dogs.
I call bs on this entire explanation. People aren't buying guns because of the flu. And there aren't that many new gun owners that this co AND all the other ammo makers can't keep shelves stocked, even after they ALL ramped up production. That is not what's going on. Just like the toulet paper shortage was created and you still can't buy more than 1 tp and 3 kleenrx at a time. I would need to be convinced of his explanation. I just don't buy it.
Looks like they found the sweet spot to keep the prices artificially inflated too.
