Don't forget the Flood. Imagine what it would be like if it started raining (something never done before) and it kept raining and raining and raining to the point where everywhere is flooded. You move up to the second story / roof.. it keeps going.. Some poor souls grabbed onto a barrel or something that floats to stay above the water as everyone is screaming bloody murder, or drowning. You are "lucky" to have found that barrel and fought off others who tried to cling to you/it. But it's still raining, and now there are waves.. you're floating on an ocean.. you cling to life for a day.. two.. but the rain keeps coming. No food, no sleep.. and one rogue wave comes and off you go, and down into the depths.. exhausted, and having no idea how to swim.. you die. Then you get to Hell...
The thing is, we are aware of the difference between good and evil.
At the time of the Great Deluge, humanity was mostly polytheistic. They didn't even acknowledge God because their foolish ancestors had forsaken him.
That's why God wiped out most life on Earth. He wanted to start anew. However, humanity kept going down the path of Satan. That's when He sent down Jesus to literally say, "Listen idiots, stop worshipping evil!"
Moses was actually the first time God showed these sentiments, with the 10 Commandments. He literally spelled out EXACTLY what NOT to do, to stay on path of righteousness. Moses was so annoyed with the Tribe of Dan (golden calf worshippers) that, once he came down from the Mt. Sinai (the Great Pyramid), he furiously smashed the Tablets of the Law, and ordered the Hebrews to melt the calf down into the Ark of the Covenant (which they used to store the broken tablets).

To add to this, the rainbow isn’t some sweet symbol. It’s the symbol of destruction by water. It’ll be fire next time.
Yep, it's an interesting symbol to have taken up.
Seems fitting actually.
I believe God would've given those poor souls another chance after Jesus' sacrifice. It only seems just.
Also, wouldn't they have been stuck in Purgatory? Heaven was sealed off, but Hell is reserved for truly wicked individuals.
It could be they were truly lost. I imagine we'll find out at some point. But I do agree that God is just, most certainly.
There are varying views on this aspect of things, they may have a second chance, but I wouldn't bet on it for us.

Well, they were all bad enough that God wanted to 'nuke them from orbit', except to save Noah and crew. I'm not betting they get additional chances.
