As a child development professional who gives out lots of books to young children, I can honestly say I have not seen any books in recent years not calling this bird a rooster. Cock has fallen out of use obviously because of the connotation. Any publisher or toy company manufacturing this is doing so deliberately. And showing a child chewing on the page with the word is sick and promoting pe_do crap.

Exactly!

Anyone trying to legitimize this or rationalize this in any way must be questioned. This was purposeful. And as someone else pointed out the earring may be a pedo symbol as well.
