There are a small amount of Christians there but I'd think this was more to piss off the Muslims and undermine Trump's peace accomplishments.

The Pope was invited by the Shia Muslims of Iraq. How would it piss them off? I guess it could piss of the Sunnis who are now pro-Israel.
