Firearms should be taxed at the same rate as other purchased goods; not at a higher rate that has been created to try to gatekeep or lower the firearm ownership.
Rightful taxes are on non-essential goods. I would argue that a firearm (and the ammunition) is an essential purchase. Therefore, they should not be taxed.
