A news organization that only shares other news articles is called a news aggregator. It's a thing. It's not strange at all.

You don't need to register a copyright for it to be valid under the law. And I don't think a name would be a copyright item any. Copyrights are for works. You might be thinking of trademark, which is also not necessarily something that is required. Again, not strange.
