Most Americans now-a-days are very unhealthy and it's not entirely their fault as some of the food ingredients that are heavily promoted through subsidies (ex. high fructose corn syrup) are not healthy, especially in large quantities. And the subsidies make it dirt cheap, so for less well off and less educated (in nutrition) people, it may seem like the obvious choice when it should not be.
