I've been rewatching the MCU this month, and there are quite a few Freudian moments like this one spread throughout the series.
My personal favorite is the plotline of Winter Soldier regarding hydra (the cabal) being in control of everything, and their mission to use military airships controlled by algorithms to exterminate all dissenters. Replace those airships with covert biological weapons in the form of vaccines, and you have our present situation.

and there's that lovely eye symbology we know and love. fuck these people. that's right I said it.
Holy cow! It was in front of me and I didn't see it until you tell me now, LOL
GOTG2 killed my love for a lot things at the time: the first movie (which BTW was co-written by another writer. GOTG2 was 100% James Gunn...), raccoons and Marvel-by-Disney movies. This scene was unbelievably evil for a blockbuster movie. Gunn even dedicated the movie to his dad at the premiere (whaaaaaaaat).
it's crazy what they're doing. It's so hard to describe to liberal frens and fams how diabolical Disney movies are from killing the characters' parents to depersonalizing their innocence onto an animal sidekick. I'm exited for Snyder's Cut of Justice League. He's had some surprisingly good movies, albeit the actors are known to be horrible people.
Also: if many of the D.U.M.B.s horror tales are true, this could be a distorted graphic representation of what our brave soldiers saw in the tunnels under the ground.
