Correct. Howver, were not talking about draftees. The NG is, and always has been, an all volunteer, CITIZEN MILITIA force. During the draft, you got two choices: 1) Army, or 2) USMC. Until W., the NG was "civil defense" only.
Had an Uncle who decided to go into the Guard instead of risking getting drafted and he spent his whole guard career INCONUS. No NG units were ever deployed during Vietnam and no draftees were given the choice of Guard Membership at the he time of their drafting. It was ALWAYS either the Active Duty Army or USMC.
I think that the comparison doesn’t make sense. The shame is that they’re being treated this way not on enemy territory in a foreign land but here in their home country, even more so because it’s in our nation’s capital.
Ever had to take a shit and you had 80 guys in front of you waiting also? One toilet?
If you understand this then you know why the parking garage is bad.
Military was definitely frowned on in the 60s! Women shied away also, if you had a Military Hair Cut.
The old military was Patriotic and Fun!
