He's the example of what America is, the land of opportunity and second chances. You can chase that American dream, if you messed up in your life you can pick yourself up and keep trucking along. Your destiny is not dictated by anyone you are in control. Yet they continue to demonize this man who is that beacon of light in the distance, to light the way for those that got lost in the darkness of drug addiction or life in general.
