The boom mics were held where they're always held (low and away from the reporters) and he stepped close to the reporters (and thus beyond the mic line) for a split second in order to hear them properly and/or make a point. But go ahead and continue with your paranoia.
Except those mics were already in the camera view before he got there (mistake 1) but not only does his hand pass through them but they stay all blurry even when they're at the same distance at him and should now be in focus like he is? That right there destroys the optical illusion argument. Hell one of the mics should be bumping right into his arm yet it just free floats like he isn't even there.
