Emergency Electric Power Outage Test

I just received a phone call from AEP power stating that it is necessary to have an emergency power outage scheduled for today within the next hour. I can’t find any info or if this is true or spam. Has anyone heard of these “Emergency Test Outages?”

Power to spare for a typical home-I know a bit about generators-worked for a rental company and rebuilt a 125KW tow behind...long ago :)

I have AEP as my electric company also and we had a power outage for about an hour. I usually get emails from them and nothing about the "Emergency Test Outages" but I did get an email saying there was a power outage in my area, then an email saying power has been restored.

I received an email from my power company yesterday. It said the following:

More wind in the forecast! According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts up to 45 mph are possible in your area tomorrow morning (Thursday, March 18). This weather could result in power outages, downed wires and other safety hazards. We are mobilizing resources to quickly respond to any service interruptions.

This is the first email I have ever received like this.

I currently have two different internet providers. Starlink and a local WISP. Both have been shitty all day today. Normally they're both solid
