I mean the biggest thing about it all is that it's not exactly a historically unique situation at all; usurpation, shadow governments, globalization, and imperialization have been going on since the dawn of civilization. History ebbs and flows in cycles, so it's only natural for there to be stories that parallel our current experience because inherently our experience parallels countless similar examples in history.
