The Alamo was a battle in Texas' fight for independence from Mexico. America had nothing to do with it.

And while the Texians did lose that battle, the bravery and sacrifice of the patriots at the Alamo inspired and galvanized the rest of Texas and they ultimately won the war, achieving their independence.
