The site says it requires a vpn. You can obtain a VPN for free but not on that site.

You shouldn't, but you can. There are plenty of free apps and browser extensions available.

Purchasing VPN access or if you're technically inclined enough, running your own is something we should all be doing. It's becoming increasingly important with all of the online censorship going on.
