There isn’t an override on a ship that large, just in case? To draw that “vulgarity” would have taken some time? Hours?
Was that unusual for an incoming ship, on a schedule l, to divert off course for that long? Was there any communication with port?
They didn’t even need to run it into the ground, all they had to do was turn off all systems during a turn and the ship would lay out sideways.
Also I’d imagine these ships have backup redundant power systems and generators?
I think an EMP explains how the entire system could crash, including all backup systems.
If emp everything would be dead and would need to be replaced. If emp they would not have been able to reboot.
