I met the best friend of my father-in-law 2 months ago and had a great conversation with him about the current events, deep state and conspiracies. Felt great to talk to someone who understands the craziness of this world and he felt the same I believe.
Then we talked about God, how faith is disappearing in Europe and I told him I wanted to read the Bible, but didn't know which one to get. He was surprised by my interest and bought me one as soon as he could. I received it today. I wanted to pay him back, but he refused and told me to accept it as a gift. A generous man, I'm thankful to have met him!
Our pastor once told people, “If you need a Bible, steal one from our church. Sure, that’s wrong, but you can repent after you read it.” ?
In the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, the "rules" are the same. If you don't have a Big Book, take one off the table (they belong to the group). If you find anything worthy, you can repay us later. If not, you can always give it back. You'd be amazed how many have found God between the covers of the AA big book and gone on to own a Bible. ~sober since The Sunday before Thanksgiving, 2001
Bless you, friend. I will pray for your continuing sobriety.
My father quit drinking using the AA method but not actually attending AA. He did it on his own and it was his faith in God that made it possible.
As for me I was on the road to alcoholism. I married and had my first child while starting a business and somehow forgot to drink any longer. First it was just during the week but after a couple years I was no longer drinking on the weekends either. This wasnt a conscious thing but when the wife and I discuss those times we both firmly believe it was our faith in God that set me on the right path.
Now I can drink socially on occasion (less than 4 times a year). As soon as I start feeling the buzz though I am done. I just no longer enjoy the effects. My brother calls me 2 beers. I bring a six pack over to watch a game or something, drink the first one, pour out half of the second one and leave 4 beers behind.
The way you drink now sounds like how drank until about 35. My husband moved out and then in feb 92, I lost my job, my house was burglarized, my divorce was final and my mother died. That started me on the road to drinking strictly for the effect alcohol produced... The thing I had always avoided. AA definitely led me to God and that's the reason I've been able to stay sober all this time. Here's to the sober life! Enjoy love&light
Excellent! I just started reading it myself and can’t put it down!
When I first learned of the depths of the depravity in our government, the widespread pedophilia and satan worship that surrounds us, I began reading the Bible again every night before bed. It is the only way I can sleep anymore. Pleasant, uplifting thoughts instead of chaos.
