early on he mentioned Cofer Black as part of a high level response meeting in wake of 9/11. Black is a Romney crony and was also on board of Burisma. I thought it interesting he mentioned his name.
He made the comment that nobody wants to stand toe to toe with US military and I have heard others state that on Bannon's war room. So CCP and anyone else has adopted unconventional warfare techniques and I am encouraged to hear he supports that (part of GB training) and brought that perspective as SecDef.
This is the first I have watched him. While I don't get the sense he is oily, it did seem to me that he was over dramatic in his story telling and there was missing some sincerity. Maybe that is just his personality.
I am stewing on his self-reflection saying his biggest mistake about Jan6 was being naive about the politics that was played. I am not sure that adds up given his understanding of the bureaucracy.
Excellent summary. Couple comments I would add:

I also thought it kinda odd, how he mentioned multiple times, about how glad he was to now have women operating on the A teams...
Yes - that seemed a very PC insertion, way more emphasis than necessary.
