Actually, the body does not produce “Vitamin” D on its own. The sun works as a “light switch” (no pun intended) to turn on the “Vitamin” D in the system. Only few sources contain Vitamin D in its natural sense, albeit limited. Foods like mushrooms (limited), sardines, WHOLE milk, etc. It is not actually a “Vitamin”. Although still a Vital Amino Acid, responsible in part for producing an incredibly strong Immune System, healing and maintaining health. It is, in fact, a Hormone. Thereby its properties are slightly different. Those in Northern Countries do not get enough naturally, unless supplements are taken. The two countries that are the lowest in Vitamin D intake are Italy and Spain. More melanin in the skin means less absorption of the Sun’s rays. Using an analogy, more melanin means the light switch is set on “dim”, thereby less absorption. Less melanin, and in fact, lighter coloured eyes (another way of absorbing Sun), means more absorption and less deficiency if taken in diet. Thereby, those with more melanin tend to need larger doses, (although people should not get carried away), especially during Winter months. Vitamin D deficiencies mimic “COVID” or indeed, any coronavirus, symptoms. I got my 88 year old mum some bottles of it for Christmas last year. I told her not to listen to all the MSM, as she would be healthy by keeping up with her Vitamin D.

Just my opinion, but a researched one...
