Tied for # 2 Canada. A country where:
The media is funded by the government. In other words, covers what the government wants them to or they get their funding cut.
Has political prisoners. I bet they don't feel so free. For example, a guy who objected to having his daughter 'transitioned' is in jail. Canada has a pastor in jail and has denied him bail, for perching (not because he did something unrelated, then they would have let him go). Canada also jailed a guy who just wanted to keep his restaurant open.
The kangaroo court Canadian Human Rights tribunal settle a lawsuit where they are forcing a comedian to pay money to some kid he offended with his joke.
Canada is a police state. As an example, there was an incident in Quebec where the cops showed up and beat up a bunch of people because I believe they had 5 people over at their house.
People returning to Canada from abroad are locked up in secret hotel prisons and are forced to pay for them. I think you can opt out of these and just take a fine, but a lot of people don't realize that. Whatever rights those people have are hidden from them. In addition, whether you test positive or not, whether you opts out of the secret prisons or not, you still have to isolate yourself for 2 week after arrival. So begs the question, what purpose do the secret prisons serve? They certainly seem to have nothing to do with any virus.
Quebec (a province in Canada for those who do not know or care) has had curfews for months. The reason according to the Quebec government is to remind people of the pandemic. Not to control the pandemic as there is no reason to think that a curfew would actually do that, just to punish the population for no good reason and remind them who is in charge.
I could go on. This list is trash. I think they screwed it up. It should read 'The least free countries in the s-called free world'. In which case the list would make perfect sense. I qualified the list with the 'so-called free world' phrase because I would not say Canada is as bad as some other countries, like CCP China, yet. However, Canada is very much trying to get to where CCP China is freedom wise right now. Might be only a matter of time.
For anyone who is curious, I know how un-free Canada is because I live in this authoritarian police state. I used to think UK was even less free, but Canada has really been catching up in recent months.
Wait, is this article an April fool's day joke?
