I've been keeping eyes on the Ever Given situation periodically throughout the day. It's just after 3:30 am, Egypt local time, and the Great Bitter Lake is once again empty, just Big Green herself.....and HALKI, a bulk container ship which has been stationed just off the EG's stern (about .2 nm away) for the past two hours. At least, that's how she appears to be stationed. Her status is "under way", but her future track seems to be locked down. Any experienced boatfags out there able to shed any light on this weirdness?

Do you mean HALKI? She's doing some weird stuff again. 50 minutes ago, she crossed over the line on the map that I think signifies international waters, has seemingly stopped, but is still showing 'under way.' Interestingly, her apparent position is roughly 2 nm away from the USN ship, ARCTIC. I don't know what that means, but I'm going to keep eyes on it. She might do a transponder 'leap' again and be halfway to Istanbul.
Looks like traffic is picking up from either end of the canal. But there was a few minutes when there was apparently no ship making the transit. Very weird.
The Suez is not a 24 hour operation. Usually there are 2 convoys each day and there are none at night/twilight because of the proximity to land.
