Either way, the living Christ and how He is leading each one of us should always precede tradition.

He lead us by establishing a church and the first Papacy onto Peter (Simon Bar Jonah renamed ROCK, translated in English to PETER). Jesus Christ literally established the traditions Catholics follow. Literally. If you want to make up your own traditions, that's heretical.
