Agreed, the only life we know we get for certain is this one so stop wasting it. To many times a promise of afterlife has been used by elites to drive the commoners to put up with all sorts of unnecessary hardship and waste their lives.

If there is an afterlife, do we remain passive in this world, expecting that the afterlife is better and will right all wrongs? Or do we get active in this world, believing that our good deeds here will lead to greater rewards then?
I think the second is better for doing good in this world. And the first mindset is good for not being overwhelmed and depressed by the evils here.
