I was out and about today for work, I saw hundreds of people, and two masks. Rural Indiana largely ignored mandates, with the smaller cities mostly playing along, barely half-heartedly.
Since election time however, most everybody's been done with it. Like other places, people are tired and want normalcy. With the idiots in charge, and rhinos being outed everywhere, even fewer people have patience like before.
It's been beautiful, mid-70s, and not many people care about masks.
For myself, I talked my mother out of getting the vaccine with evidence from everywhere. My dad still wants it, but he will come around eventually.
They're flying this month for the first time in over a year, both retired. Nervous about getting covid-19, they still haven't got it, it's understandable, they're old. :-)
Just curious, what county? I'm in Allen, (Ft Wayne), we have a Dem mayor, but for the most part it is very conservative. A few of the small shops I frequent had the health department make them put up a sign, they didn't make you wear a mask unless someone walked in wearing one, then everyone put theirs on. Today I noticed a lot of signs said masks recommended, changed from masks required. For the most part everyone is sick of it except for the covid / global warming crowd, they beg to be oppressed.
I hinted at it with dubious. It's Dubois. On the southern end. They were militant at the local walmart about it. I boycott them as much as possible anyway. I see people wearing masks by themselves in cars sometimes. The fear is strong with many in that county bit surrounding counties, at least the citizenss, are catching on. I did get a lot of glares in a local store for not complying two days ago alongside my fellow rebels.
Sorry, I didn't catch the hint, I am not as familiar with the southern part of the state, but always great to hear fellow rebel Hoosiers stories. Thank god we only have pockets of idiots here, the state was pretty cool through most of this compared to the states around us..
Marshall County here. Mostly a solid group of based patriots. Venturing out to South Bend, you get more of a mix.
My GF is from South Bend, her family are older dem folks who are stepping back from their party due to the craziness, especially from what former mayor Pete did to the town.
Agreed, patriot. Though Florida's governor makes me jealous.
We're in KOS, so 35 min. From Ft. Wayne. Warsaw is mostly based, lot of conservatives too. Businesses here dont care if you dont wear a mask, except for Menards, but that is for another post.
So both my kids are writing letters to their principle, asking that the mandate be moved to a recommended at school after spring break is over. ✌??
Menards had a mask rule before the state implemented theirs, they told me they would sell me a mask if I didn't have one, I left and haven't been back since.
In the 90's my old band played a bar there called Rex's, if I remember right, the bar owner bought the cab company because the cops were harassing patrons, so he gave them a free cab ride home if they drank too much, always thought that was awesome.
Great to hear getting your kids involved, I'm not surprised people here actually parent, but it always feels good to hear it.
FYI, Rex's is still there, although its gone down hill a tad. They are mostly known for their fights, and roudy drunks.
They have a lot of good nights too, though.
I'm thinking of making a post about menards, as a case study. On the one hand, masks=stupid. On the other, I firmly believe a company can make whatever rules they want, America is great that way. I really like Menards as a store, so I put up with it there, even though I didn't anywhere else. I had interesting talks with employees about it too... I should write that up.
You should, I feel the same, a company can make their own rules, and if we don't like it, we spend our money somewhere else, voting with our dollars I guess.
