They wore masks in 1918, too. Probably wore the same mask day after day. It only takes a few minutes to an hour for measurable amounts of bacteria to accumulate in a mask. Mask wearers are breathing in harmful pathogens and are exposing themselves to illness while failing to prevent the transmission of the china flu.
