No, it isn't creepy. Hippocrates and physicians in his tradition worked their ass off to treat patients, and to teach WHILE treating patients. They needed some security that their students would treat them with the same respect and care with which their teachers treated them. Apprenticeship.
Speaking as a medical student, I see some students treat their profs with LESS respect than they'd show to strangers or potential patients. It's kind of scary, the degree of entitlement that can be shown.
The World Medical Association
Declaration of Geneva (1948)
Yeah. But those who take them, take them very seriously.
Also, THE Hippocratic oath specified that a physician wouldn't provide means for an abortion. That's a big chunk of why the original oath had to go..
Fair point.
The part about giving the teachers the respect and gratitude they deserve is creepy.
Why? Any professor worth a damn would get his respect through his actions.
Oaths are forbidden in The Bible, no?

Mate, I totally didn't read the post before commenting. These ARE different, by a lot. Sorry
I had the same thought. I made the post because of the last lines of the oath seemed relevant to our timeline.
