No I don’t think so… Even though the Toronto area is very left wing, there are still a lot of people who want nothing to do with this vaccine. At the moment in Ontario there are more than 1 million people over the age of 65 that haven’t received the vaccine. I can’t even say how disgusted I am at the situation. They are basing this Emergency lockdown on ICU beds and we have always been under capacity relative to the population size pre pandemic. As well, they are NOT moving patients to Out of area hospitals. Many are sitting empty while the ones in the Toronto area are at capacity. I am beside angry. Might go to one of those protestS tomorrow downtown that of course the media refuses to cover or even mention.
I have read That for Ontario we have a total of 1800 ICU beds, we have around 500 hospitals and around 500 Are currently in ICU for a population of 16 million.
A Critical care doctor was questioning why we actually had less ICU potential in the Toronto area then at the start of the pandemic? We’ve had well over a year to expand capability and yet nothing has been done. It just smells corrupt. The excuse given is that there is a staffing issue https://twitter.com/strauss_matt/status/1378334534832377856?s=20
