"Again" isn't the right word. At some point your body needs a certain level of alcohol just to 'maintain'. Or it starts reacting, passing out, convulsing, etc. She seems to be past the point of wet-brain alcoholism. The damage (slurring, mental fog, fits of anger) is permanent. It's either cold-turkey with a Dr. at hand or keep drinking. At her age/condition cold turkey without a Dr. would probably be certain death.
