I've seen some great posts about people's experiences going into a big box store without a mask and defying mask mandates. This is excellent and exactly what we need.
I personally stopped wearing a mask anywhere here in Ohio about 3 or 4 months ago. I have never wanted to make the store clerk or restaurant workers' job more difficult and awkward than it already is. But I decided I was done and would be a good example.
I keep one in my pocket in case some worker verbally asks me to wear one and I need something bad enough I can't walk out.
Thing is ... I have yet to be asked.
Workers just treat me normal. Other customers are inspired or emboldened.
Last week a woman approached me asking how I deal with people harassing me for not wearing a mask in the store bc she really wants to stop wearing it. I told her the above and she seemed so relieved.
Just be a free, clear thinking person. Hold your head high. Others will follow.
I have not, do not, and will not wear a mask. The worst that can happen is the store ask you to leave. Thing is though, I've never had anyone say anything about masks in a store except for the big shopping malls which I rarely went to anyways.
In that mall, it was easy to tell that the security guard didn't agree with masks and just said that the mall wants people to wear the masks. I chose to leave and have not been back since. The upside is that I'm wasting less money by not buying shit I don't need and would rarely ever use.
I’m sorry but that was a missed opportunity. I’d have taken the hem of my dress at the bottom and hiked that bitch straight up over my face so my panties were showing. After Karen was nice and embarrassed I would’ve walked calmly out.
