That guy is calgary. This story is Toronto area. Comparable distance would be California to Florida.

No worries, it's been an advantage.

Once took a road trip to Mexico, we were going through Arizona doing around 110-120 mph when we got pulled over. Cop had his shotgun on us and all when finally things calm down and he looks at the licences. Tells us "I don't even know where Manitoba IS so you're obviously not going to come back to pay the biggest fucking fine you've ever seen, so, GTFO of my county."
