Back in the day (mid 60s) we weren't gay but were barely aware of the big picture shit rolling towards us. my first memories when I transferred to the Providence was 2 sailors being escorted to BCD land-no such thing as "don't ask, don't tell".. then Aug. 64 the sound of breaking glasses and stoneware as the ship reacted to the all ships flash about the Gulf of Tonkin by hard to port flank speed maneuvers. As I said, big picture shit rolling towards us transforming our Cold War status into a hot war reality..
