That M1A1 sounds really good,I've used an FN FAL(7.62 x51 NATO)in the Australian
Army and I imagine the recoil is very similar, manageable but very noticeable.
If you are using Mil Spec 7.62x51 NATO it should all be fine.If you try some long
range shooting you could do a comparison between the NATO Spec ammo and
some high performance loads in the Rem 770 to see if it effects the zero.
If there is minimal difference you could stay with the NATO ammo in both,
Rem770 and the M1A1 and God forbid, if this situation goes tits up, the US
Military has lots of 7.62x51 NATO ammo for their M60s,M240s,M134mini guns.
Same goes with the Mini 14,the US Military has more 5.56x45 NATO than you
can poke a stick at.
You could try to work the wife up to 300 yards at least with the Mini 14 and see
how she goes.
It all sounds good, you and the wife are tooled up well! Enjoy!
As an after thought you could ask a gun dealer ect, if the MIAI can use the same
magazines as an FN FAL, and if so you could try to get some 30 round FN FAL
mags.
I don't know if they are legal or available in America, but they give you good high
capacity when you need it.
The 30 round mags are for the heavy barrelled FN FAL(L2A2)but alot of people,
like the SAS,used them on the standard light barrelled FN FAL(L1A1)
This has been some serious gun fagging......
Barrett M82 shooters enter the conversation.......
I was in the Canadian Forces back in the stone age... I sorely miss my FNC1... she was my first and best love!
With 18 year old eyes, I had 6 inch groups at 300 yards... can't do that any more.
I never much cared for the AR platform... yes they are light and one can carry much more ammo but you can't crush a skull with the butt end., which reminds me...
Shortly after I got out(early 80s), the RAR was in Petawawa for an exercise vs. the RCR... apparently, on the last day, the Aussies put in the obligatory attack at dawn but instead of the sound of blanks being fired, they came over the proverbial hill shrieking and swinging their FNs like clubs.
My buddy who was acting as umpire told me he turned and ran. Many lads wound up in hospital that day but they ALL got hammered in the mess that night...together.
I know it may be a stretch, but would you have been in about that time?
The communist PM has made all semi autos illegal (but handguns are OK since criminals have and use them and DON"T use long arms) since he doesn't want anyone to question his "authority" in the proper way, so the fun firearms are toast.
:-(
I've a 3D printer so I'll be making some extra magazines for my existing rifles... five rounds really isn't enough and it's still legal for bolt action rifles.
p.s. - Are you on Gab? If so, please let me know... I'm QSmeg there.
Yup, the M1A1 is the semi-auto version of the M14.
The Mini-14 is good for both .223 Rem and 5.56x45... I did note a bit more recoil and report with the 5.56.
Gun fags rejoice!
p.s. -the one time my better half came out, she was good for head shots to 100 yds with the mini & a red dot.!
