Not that I’ve ever heard of. The Potomac river use to run all the way up into DC though. Right near the Lincoln memorial and all. It’s how goods got there by boat back in the early days. The inspection houses that were at the docks are actually still there today, just surrounded by grass now instead of water.
I saw an article on here earlier about someone wanting to open those channels back up into dc; or something along those lines. Let me see if I can find it again.
Thank you, I did see that one as well and have been kind of keeping a side eye on it, the sandbags did strike me as odd but it could very well be some routine work. So far it doesn't seem like anyone has been able to find out why they were placed around DC. At least it kind of suggests either cleaning of vents, tunnels, some sort of construction work...if it was a water break, they wouldn't prepare 1-2 days in advance, I don't think.
Yea I was thinking the same thing. Usually they have the same bags there to try and keep the trash from going into the drains because it all runs back out to the river.
I found it kind of odd they were there days ago also.
does that ever lead to flooding like we see in DC?
