A lot of the same shit goes on with phone apps(access to camera, microphone, contacts list, image album etc, on apps that have little to no need for it....)
That makes the assumption that android is to be trusted on this and that the app maker is in no way connected to goolag beyond selling apps through their store.
Pretty much the only apps I'm inclined to trust are banking and the ones made by tool manufacturers and gun related stuff(ballistic calculators, chronograph etc.)...

Permissions manager. Some apps still won't let you play ball with certain features disabled but many will still work.
