The FBI has begun quietly accessing hundreds of American computers hacked through Microsoft’s Exchange email program, removing malicious code that the hackers left behind.
Alan Butler, the president of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, a think tank that advocates for digital privacy, said that while the FBI appeared to be acting justly in this case, the Justice Department should be mindful with how it grants the agency that authority.
"There are significant risks with these techniques — such as unintended destruction of data or misuse of the tools by government agents — that demand close oversight," he said in an email. "It is important that courts strictly limit such orders and that there be public oversight of these activities after the fact."

I've been marked safe from Microsoft for over 10 years now. Don't even use their products at all. My daily driver is Fedora Linux and just recently I've reloaded Fedora 33 onto a spanking new SSD and I'm comfty as fk right now. The FBI is seething right now at me.
I've been MS free since my first system I bought in 1979. The only exception being for one laptop I bought five years ago to play WoW and Skyrim. The funny thing is that this very morning, I put Mint on it because I haven't played any games in two years. My main system is bootable to Fedora or Open Indiana/Luminos. I will probably start migrating away from Linux OSs in preference to real Unix OSs like Luminos and BSD.
Haha nice! My first computer was an Amiga and then we upgraded to Microsoft 3.11 then Win 95. Taught myself how to use Win 95/98 and the rest is history. After 5 years of servicing computers with Windows on it and going through the headaches of doing virus/spyware cleaning, reloading OSes and updating with hotfixes, I've had enough with Windows. Too crappy, bloated and slow.
Linux is a whole world different from Windows and after installing Fedora, I had to update. What's that? 500+ updates? OK I'll wait. 3 minutes later, it's done? Whoa...
On Windows, 500+ updates means a week worth of waiting so nah, I'm cool with Linux, bro.
Are you any good with Arch Linux? I've been putting off on installing Arch for some reason but I will try to find the time to do it. I'm aware of Luminos and BSD but not Open Indiana... I'll look that one up.
