Pray for their redemption. Pray they are awakened and turn away from sin; towards God.

"Father forgive them, they do not know what they do" comes to mind.

Life as a sinner is not a happy one. Think of how crappy you feel when you do something wrong. Now think about how crappy you'd feel if you were responsible for the things the elites are. Some of them might be legitimately incapable of feeling, but I think most of them feel it. They are probably eternally subject to guilt, inner loathing, fear, and all sorts of other emotions in not healthy levels. They turn to worldly pleasures to address these feelings, but they only make them worse, as they are temporary and often come with bad side effects. They're some of the most pathetic individuals, deep down, and they probably know that, too, and loathe it. It might even be why they're so brutal; they try to "kill the pain" by killing others.

Pray they see the light. Pray they realize that they can escape this all, and begin to heal, if they turn to God, repent, and begin their works of penance, to try to begin to make up for the damage they've done.

This is why everyone needs prayers. While it may be much more magnified for the elites, we are all sinners, in need of God's grace and forgiveness. We should be mindful of our own faults, to seek them out and seek improvement and forgiveness.
