LOL, it's a kind of misconceived meme.

People have this idea that buddhist monks are one variety, the peacenik kind that wouldn't hurt a fly.

Well, they may not hurt a fly, but people forget that the buddhist monks perfected the Shaolin kungfu, and historically, have been in riots, overthrows, etc.
