The Greeks postulated that the earth was a sphere, and Copernicus had the theory that the spherical earth, along with the planets orbited around the sun, and it was Galileo who proved this theory with a telescope, and who was locked up in his house for half of his life by the ‘government’ of the day for telling the truth.
