There is a worldwide semiconductor chip shortage. Car manufacturers now have shutdowns due to this chip shortage. Then I stumble on a CNN article about the FoxConn factory in Wisconsin. Trump heralded it and now it sits empty. Or does it?
In the middle of the article is this little gem:
"During the early days of the pandemic, Foxconn made face masks and ventilators at the Wisconsin plant. But the company hasn't revealed how much of its 1.4 million square feet, spread across three buildings, is now being used. It says its plans are based on "current projections for digital infrastructure hardware products through 2025," but did not provide any specifics about those products. The company says it currently has "several hundred" employees at the property."
Trump is always thinking ahead. Semiconductor chips are integral to our economy. What is happening at the FoxConn plant in Wisconsin?
Are used to work for international rectifier, which was a semiconductor company. I worked in the way for fab. This is not something that’s easily put together. It takes a lot of engineering, there’s a lot of chemicals, and buildings are usually built around the design for the clean room based on if it’s done a linear, or if it’s in done in zones. I am not so sure you can just retrofit a building to become a semiconductor factory. I could be wrong I’m not an engineer, but it was a big deal. working in the clean room having to wear a bodysuit, and a mask, booties, the whole deal!
Yeah, IBM had a big plant in Essex Junction, VT and from friends who interned there, I know what it takes. What I think may have happened, is that it was built for manufacturing chips, never built ventilators/face shields, and continues to manufacture chips to this day. But keeping it all secret by all the workers?
But then again, if it's national security-related, they can get workers to remain quiets about what they're building.
Just a hunch. We shall see if true...
In the meanwhile will hold the line
